Sex 2.0
April 14, 2008
Still not caught up on sleep. I had the most amazing time ever this weekend. I ventured to Atlanta to attend Sex 2.0 organized by the fantastic Amber Rhea in order to learn and participate in a day long discussion focused on sex, feminism, and social media. It was held at 1763 and to tell you the truth, walking trough those doors was a new experience for me. See, I have always been fascinated with sex and how media and society view sex but I have been exposed to pretty vanilla stuff thus far. I arrived to the conference late and missed the keynote by Audacia Ray but got there in enough time to look around before the first session began.
I decided to attend Erotic Writing 101 lead by the amazing Rachel Kramer Bussel. I have been a long time reader of her blog and a fan of the books she has edited so I was a tiny bit star struck. I sat in the front so close I could have reached out and touched her but I am pretty sure that was against the rules and almost certain that would have been super creepy. The session was fantastic but not long enough. I managed to start a few new stories during the session and work on one that I had started prior to the con.
Following the Erotic Writing 101 session I attended a session called Creating sex commons: Sex blogging as a feminist project lead by Elizabeth Wood of Sex in the Public Square. This was by far the most intense and involved session that I attended at the conference. Some of the main points brought up were sex worker safety and the credibility game that is played among sex workers. I didn’t participate in this discussion but learned a lot.
Then I headed to participate in a session lead by Cunning Minx of PolyWeekly called Poly Pervs like me. The session was very informative to non poly folks like me. It was interesting the mix of people that were at that session and the diversity lead to amazing conversation.
After Poly Pervs I got to attend a session on Phone Sex lead by Ellie Lumpesse. This session was mostly review for me since both Ellie and I are moderators on an adult sex worker message board that a lot of PSOs post on.
I think the most informative session, and the inspiration for this blog, was the final session I attended by Viviane212 about sex blogging. The amount of info on how to blog and what you need to know before/during/after blogging was amazing and helpful.
I think this is where I will stop for the time being. Will post about the party at 1763 and the rest of the weekend later.

I wish I could have attended the sessions that you and Ellie went to like Cunning Minx, however it was an incredible experience regardless.
I’m excited to see your post about part 2 of the weekend.
